In the ever-evolving world of fashion tech, OUTFIT CODE, by Minchul Park, is carving out a unique space by blending personal styling with artificial intelligence. The Korean startup’s mission goes beyond appearance — it’s about helping people transform their confidence and lives. With over 700 consultations completed and ambitious plans to expand overseas, Park is positioning OUTFIT CODE as a pioneer in personalized style consulting.

OUTFIT CODE is positioning itself as a tech-enabled lifestyle brand at the intersection of fashion consulting and AI. Its biggest strength lies in blending human styling expertise with data-driven automation, while its biggest challenge is scaling efficiently and maintaining credibility as it enters global markets.

Introducing OUTFIT CODE: AI Meets Men’s Style

Q: Can you introduce the OUTFIT CODE for our readers?

Park: Outfit Code is a service that helps men improve their lives through appearance management. We analyze facial and body shape data to provide personalized styling solutions — from clothing to hair and glasses. The idea is that a change in appearance can lead to increased confidence, which positively impacts many areas of life. Our system currently analyzes more than 50 facial and body parameters with AI to deliver solutions that go beyond surface-level advice.

Q: What inspired you to start this business?

Park: My background is in computer engineering, and like many engineers, I wasn’t naturally skilled at styling. But I had a strong personal interest. I started by advising friends, and that’s when I realized I really enjoyed it. Later, I thought if I could combine styling with technology, like artificial intelligence, it could become a strong business. That’s how OUTFIT CODE started.

Q: Do you see OUTFIT CODE as a styling service or a lifestyle brand?

Park: Ultimately, we want to become a lifestyle brand. We don’t just change appearance; we change lives. That’s our mission and vision.

Our philosophy is summed up in our motto: “Change your outfit, change your life.” Confidence from appearance can open doors to new opportunities in work, relationships, and personal growth.

How OUTFIT CODE Works: Personalized Styling Made Simple

Q: What does your service cover?

Park: Initially, we looked at broader areas like skincare and fitness, but those are harder to scale. For now, we focus on hair, glasses, and even eyebrow design. These are areas where we’ve found strong demand, especially in markets like Singapore.

Each personalized report includes recommendations on hairstyle strategies, eyebrow designs, and eyewear selection based on face ratios and symmetry.

Q: How does your online service work right now?

Park: Customers fill out a survey and send us a video showing their face and body. We analyze that data and deliver a personalized styling report within five days. For one month afterward, we provide ongoing feedback. It’s not the most efficient, but it gives us valuable insights. Over time, we’ll automate this process using AI.

Automation is expected to increase our productivity by nearly 19 times compared to today’s manual process.

Q: Will you continue offline consulting once AI is developed?

Park: Yes. Offline consulting gives us instant feedback, which is very valuable. We’ll continue it but increase the price, while the online AI-based service will be more affordable.

Q: Have you considered selling products directly?

Park: We tried selling fashion products last year, but it didn’t work well, so we stopped. After that, we changed our strategy to focus on B2B SaaS. For example, if we recommend a hairstyle, customers can book an offline salon. If we recommend clothes, they can purchase them through a partner. The roadmap is to become a full solution platform where consulting connects directly to e-commerce and salon reservations.

Targeting Global Style: From Korea to Singapore and Beyond

Q: Who are your clients, and where are you expanding globally?

Park: We started in Korea but are planning to go global. Korea’s market is shrinking because of population decline, so our first overseas target is Singapore, followed by Japan and China.

We just launched our MVP in Singapore, where 40 beta testers signed up in just 30 minutes, validating the demand. Reports were priced at about 58,000 KRW (SGD 58).

Q: Is the service only for men?

Park: Yes, for now it’s only for men. We plan to expand to women in the future, maybe in two years, but not this year. The women’s market is already very competitive.

Overcoming Challenges: Building Credibility and Scaling with AI

Q: What were the biggest challenges and risks you faced as a founder?

Park: The biggest challenge is developing AI that can automate personalized consulting. The biggest risk was credibility. When I started three years ago, people questioned me because I was a computer engineer without fashion expertise. To overcome that, I earned more than four certifications in styling. To build up credibility, we also incorporated the company last month.

I’ve since obtained a Men’s Style Consultant license, and we’re in the process of filing patents for our proprietary AI system to further strengthen trust.

Growth, Team, and Future Ambitions

Q: Can you tell us about your sales and growth so far?

Park: Last year, we recorded about 70 million won in sales. Our consulting reports are priced at over $100 each, which makes them expensive. The challenge is productivity; they take a lot of time to create. That’s why we need AI, to increase efficiency and lower the price.

YouTube has been a key growth channel — we’ve produced over 70 videos, reaching 350,000 total views and building an audience of 3,000 subscribers.

Q: Do you work alone, or do you have a team?

Park: I have a small team. There’s a COO who handles online services, and I handle offline premium consulting. We also have two part-time members. The COO and I have strong engineering and data science backgrounds, giving the team a rare mix of technical depth and styling expertise

Q: Where do you see OUTFIT CODE in five years?

Park: I want people to think of OUTFIT CODE as a brand that changes lives, not just appearances. That’s the future I’m building toward.

Advice for Entrepreneurs: Just Start

Q: What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

Park: My advice is simple: just do it. Don’t overthink. Taking that leap is the most important step.

Looking Ahead: From Styling Service to Lifestyle Brand

OUTFIT CODE is still in its early stages, but with its mix of technology, styling expertise, and clear mission, it has the potential to become a truly global lifestyle brand.
