Dubai Viral Knafeh Pistachio Chocolate Bar: What’s It About?

Can’t get your hands on the viral Dubai knafeh pistachio chocolate bar? You might want to try the Korean version. It’s different from the original, but you might actually like this one better!

The worldwide communities of foodies have been caught in a major chocolate hunt. A unique chocolate bar from Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai, UAE, recently went viral with its crunchy knafeh pistachio fillings.

It all started when a UAE content creator posted an ASMR video of themselves enjoying the chocolate, and it quickly went viral. The bar is easily recognized by its colorful, paint-splattered-looking casing and its crunchy texture, which gives a delightful crackling sound with every bite. Inside, it’s filled with delicious pistachio cream and crispy strips of toasted knafeh pastry, making it extra crunchy.

The sweet treat then took social media by storm.

This chocolate sensation has also caught the attention of popular Korean content creators. They’ve been posting their own reviews and videos of the bar, including some showing influencers making their own versions. These videos have become hugely popular, especially among the younger crowd.

Same Flavors, Different Experience: The Korean Versions!

With the massive positive responses, South Korea finally created its own version of this viral chocolate. And yet, what’s the difference between the Korean and the original versions of these Dubai-style chocolates?

The original version of the Dubai knafeh pistachio chocolate bar used a special ingredient called Kataifi noodles. It is a shredded phyllo dough, a type of pastry used in various Middle Eastern, Greek, and Turkish desserts.

The Korean version, instead, is using stir-fried noodles. As a result, the texture of the chocolate’s filling might appear drier. However, these Korean-made ones are even crunchier than the original.

Furthermore, the filling paste might not be as creamy and melting as the Dubai-made. Yet, it gives you that perfect blend of sweet and savory texture that’s perfect for snack time.

More Korean Releases of Dubai Knafeh Pistachio Chocolate Bar

The first to start the initiative was the Korean convenience store chain CU, in collaboration with Mont, a small and medium-sized Korean company. They created this Korean version of Dubai knafeh pistachio chocolate bar from the abovementioned stir-fried noodles, resulting in a different texture.

Along with CU, Korean GS Retail’s convenience store has also released its own version of the Dubai knafeh pistachio chocolate bar. With the pre-order starting on July 12, this product is expected to rival the ones from CU.

What makes GS Retail’s chocolate different from CU is that the company decided to use the actual Kataifi noodles in the fillings, just like the original. According to GS Retail, they’re trying to make their versions highly similar to the original.

Yes, this Korean-made Dubai-style knafeh pistachio chocolate bar might be unexpected, but it gives you a whole different snacking experience. Hence, it’s no wonder that this local Dubai-style chocolate has gone viral in South Korea.

Where to Buy Online?

Unfortunately, as of today, the Korean version of the Dubai knafeh pistachio chocolate bar is only available at South Korean convenience stores, CU. The GS Retail’s Kataifi noodles version has only started its pre-order on July 12 and will only circulate at the end of July.

The only way to purchase this viral chocolate online is through the Korean online marketplace, G-Market. So, if their overseas shipping service is available in your area, you might want to try purchasing the CU’s version of the chocolate via G-Market.
