But, it did not go as expected. Digital fashion startups were a bust. NFTs became a history. And, luxury market saw an economic decline, forcing the brands to withdraw from pricey tech investments.
After the not so successful Web3 ventures, Web2 platforms are back into the frontline. Brands are now skirting around innovation – so no noteworthy tech but using things that work with their existing audience. These include using Instagram broadcast channel, TikTok livestream optimization, and fine-tuning the current digital strategies.
As the 2025 fashion season kicks off, AI and tech advancements are back! Fashion houses are re-engaging with tech but with a different approach.
Seoul Fashion Week ventures into AI
Seoul Fashion Week explored AI in another way. This year’s Seoul Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2025 celebrated 25th anniversary of the event. There was a significant focus on innovation and sustainability by the fashion designers, local and international.
Hannah Shin’s “Cosmogonie” collection
Hannah Shin’s “Cosmogonie” collection was a interesting mix of 3D printing and traditional tailoring. The designs were futuristic and practical at the same time – a perfect fusion of 3D printing and traditional craftsmanship. Shin collaborated with KAIST and Stratasys Korea to create cosmic-inspired silhouettes using AI and PolyJet 3D printing techniques. These silhouettes include tube-top mini dresses and metallic jackets.
One of the very-tech prominent things was a model wearing the WalkON Suit, a robotic exoskeleton made by KAIST for people with paraplegia. This is just the perfect example of how fashion and assistive technology are getting closer together.
Fashion and South Korean tech giants
Seoul Fashion Week is not just about trends; it’s also a hub for innovation. South Korean tech giants are keen to bring digital fashion into our daily lives.
Last year, LG showed off its Stretchable Display technology on clothes and accessories created by Youn-Hee Park and Chung-Chung Lee.
This season, Samsung unveiled its “Galaxy Studio Fashion” experience at DDP Plaza, featuring AI-powered digital fashion tools that are now built into Samsung devices.
Integrating AI into fashion designing
Seoul Fashion Week also showcased a mix of fashion and tech. Designers are using AI to make their designs, and it’s totally changing the game! They’re creating amazing stuff and putting on super cool shows, showing that they’re all about staying ahead of the curve.

The event also had AI representation in visual arts. VIIM Studio joined forces with AI for an art collaboration during Seoul Fashion Week.
Their unique visual interpretations perfectly matched the fashion shows, showing how AI can add a new twist to creativity.
